Hi, my name is Olga Mavridis. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA, with a 4.0 GPA. I received my BS in Neurobiology with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. After completing the pre-medical track at CMU, I am currently a prospective medical student for the 2025 application cycle.
My experiences in pre-medical sciences and tutoring began as early as high school. I took AP science courses, was enrolled in a science research program, volunteered at a children’s hospital, and was a peer tutor for biology and mathematics. My early experiences inspired me to pursue the pre-medical track at CMU and made me passionate about lifelong teaching and medicine.
As I advanced into my undergraduate education, I became a teaching assistant and grader in pre-medical sciences. I held office hours, created and graded exams and homework questions, and, most importantly, developed a personalized approach for each student. I also tutor students at the collegiate level in science and situational judgment exams required for medical school entry. These engagements made me passionate about both teaching and learning from my students.
As a graduate of the Dietrich School of Humanities and Social Sciences, I have also taken numerous writing and communication courses. Some of which include Writing for the Professions, Writing about Data, Writing about Public Problems, and Oral Communication.
Outside my educational endeavors, I enjoy weightlifting, running, cooking, and traveling. My passion for health extends into the kitchen, as I enjoy creating creative ways to cook plant-based meals.
As someone who is immensely passionate about mentoring students, I am excited to share my knowledge and help you succeed both academically and personally.
Since my senior year in high school, I have been consistently involved in research. My earliest involvement was at New York University, where I worked in a neuroscience laboratory studying oxytocin. Once I transitioned to Carnegie Mellon, I sought out clinical research positions each year in both PA and NYC hospitals. I have performed research with the Allegheny Health Network, the Pittsburgh Center for Plastic Surgery, and Mount Sinai Hospital. These experiences have provided me with a wide range of analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills that I translate into many avenues.
I have had the privilege of shadowing physicians and surgeons in NYC, PA, and Milan, Italy, both in the operating room and clinic. I have shadowed doctors in neurophysiology, ophthalmology, hematology-oncology, general, plastic, hand, breast, and neurological surgery. While shadowing, I gained invaluable insights into the field of medicine and was exposed first-hand to different healthcare systems.
My earliest experience began during my sophomore year of high school when I volunteered at the St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital. While at Carnegie Mellon, I volunteered at the University of Pittsburgh Shadyside in the cancer unit and emergency department. Most recently, I volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Louisiana, helping rebuild a community that was devastatingly impacted by Hurricane Ida.
My involvement in pre-medical sciences extended beyond my personal experiences when I became the vice president of Doctors of Carnegie Society (DOCS), CMU’s largest pre-health organization, and Psi Chi, an international psychology honors society. During my time on the DOCS board, I worked with another executive member to co-create an MCAT study program. This program provided students with weekly high-yield MCAT topics and problem-solving lectures. Currently, we are working on providing equitable opportunities to break down financial barriers for students when applying to medical school. While I was the Vice President of Psi Chi, I mentored students, created original events, and launched the mentor-mentee program. Mentorship is foundational to academia, and I look forward to continuing to uplift and guide others through my counseling.

Over the course of my undergraduate degree, Olga Mavridis went above and beyond to help me succeed. She is a clear communicator and pulls from her experience and classes to ensure you retain the information needed to not only pass but consistently excel. If you need it, she will find figures on the spot to support what you are discussing in order to gain a better visual perspective on complicated subjects. Olga works with you during sessions to be sure you understand, and she celebrates with you when you are able to achieve that A you were hoping for. She has become not just a tutor but a friend as well, and I could not be more grateful to have found her.
Olga was simply a great tutor. Her understanding demeanor and expertise not only facilitated my learning but also instilled confidence in tackling challenging concepts on the Casper Exam. I highly recommend Olga to anyone looking for supportive and effective tutoring!
